Hello, my name is Denver. I work currently at Harvard Medical School (HSPH) with the Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP). I am interning in the Immunology and Infectious Disease laboratory. In my laboratory, I am studying Tuberculosis.
In this picture is shown the apparatus in which enzymes are brought to optimal conditions and activated to cut DNA. Prior to the using of this tool, we performed a series of processes to extract the DNA of bacteria from them including adding extrinsic chemicals and antibacterials to and precipitating them through spinning the mixtures. In this phase of the experiment shown, the extracted DNA samples are being cut by a specific enzyme at 37 degrees Celsius so as to split them strategically. The collective experiment is part of an assay on the characteristics of Tuberculosis. The characteristics of the bacterial disease were being discovered through experimenting on a relative kind of bacteria.
